Family-run Hunt’s Foodservice based in Sherborne has just been awarded top level NSF-CMI Storage, Wholesale and Distribution accreditation for all four of its distribution depots. NSF-CMi Certification is the leading provider of independent assurance and certification services to the agriculture, produce and processing industries, certifying over 40,000 clients in Europe. The NSF-CMi Storage, Wholesale and Distribution Standard is an international industry standard developed by CMi, together with representatives of the wholesale and distribution industry and the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF). It is designed to assess the ability of food wholesalers and distributors to comply with food safety requirements and demonstrate due diligence and is widely recognised by major foodservice companies and food retailers. Key elements involved in gaining accreditation include the adoption of HACCP (hazard analysis critical control points), a documented quality management system, premises environment standards, product control, operations control and hygiene standards. Hunt’s has proved it has exacting standards in these areas and subsequently has been awarded “higher level” accreditation for its Sherborne, Bristol, Winchester and Weston-Super-Mare depots. Richard Hunt, managing director of Hunt’s says, “Around 65 per cent of our customers are based within Dorset and Somerset. They can confidently purchase from us with the knowledge that we operate within strict guidelines. We have a documented quality policy, management and systems, in addition to environmental standards, product, operational and personnel procedures in place to ensure the food we sell is safe.” Richard continues, “This accreditation is a great achievement for Hunt’s and illustrates our dedication to continuous improvement at all levels of our business. We have an excellent operational team here who have all worked extremely hard to put in the relevant measurements and procedures and have enabled us to pass through the inspection process with flying colours.” For more information contact Bernie Virgin, Group Quality, Health & Safety Manager on 01935 810227 bernie@huntsfoodservice.co.uk or Sam Grimes, Trade Marketing Manager on 01935 810217 sam@huntsfoodservice.co.uk
